Project
SAVILLE FAMILY BEACH AND ENCHANTED FOREST - WALTER C. MACKENZIE HOSPITAL
Edmonton, Alberta
The Saville Family Beach and Enchanted Forest project at the Stollery Children’s Hospital included a curtainwall replacement at the hospital’s South Atrium and an update on both interior and exterior play spaces. For the pediatric patients at the Stollery and their families this space allows the kids to forget for a while why they are at the Stollery, and to just be a kid.
The interior renovations included a full redesign of the play areas and a new kitchen. The mechanical HVAV was revised to make the south facing, fully glazed space a comfortable environment for the occupants, all while be as inobtrusive as possible in an open ceiling concept. Kitchen ventilation and plumbing allows the staff to provide an expanded activity offering for the users.
